Hanuman Chalisa is a very powerful devotional work that has been left to posterity by Goswami Tulsidas whose devotional work – Tulsi Ramayan has revolutionized Bhakti movement by enabling common man to recite the glorious legend of Shri Rama in his native tongue.  Hanuman Chalisa has been found to be highly effective in controlling the evil effects of Saturn transit or Saturn’s major/ minor periods.  Those who are under such influences will get benefitted by chanting the Chalisa for 8 times on Saturdays.

Hanuman Chalisa praises Lord Hanuman the Foremost Devotee of Lord Shri Rama.  Shri Hanuman is the epitome of Selfless Service, Courage, Humble disposition, and Bhakti all rolled into one. Venerating that noble Devotee of Raamaa is sure to benefit us.  I have found that specific verses in the Hanuman Chalisa are capable of bestowing specific results as a result of my meditations on this for long years (based on my individual research; and I have found it to be working miraculously by God’s Grace).

RAMCHARITMANAS : AN INTRODUCTION

Ramayana, considered part of Hindu Smriti, was written originally in Sanskrit by
Sage Valmiki (3000 BC). Contained in 24,000 verses, this epic narrates Lord Ram of
Ayodhya and his ayan (journey of life). Over a passage of time, Ramayana did not remain
confined to just being a grand epic, it became a powerful symbol of India’s social and
cultural fabric. For centuries, its characters represented ideal role models – Ram as an ideal
man, ideal husband, ideal son and a responsible ruler; Sita as an ideal wife, ideal daughter
and Laxman as an ideal brother. Even today, the characters of Ramayana including Ravana
(the enemy of the story) are fundamental to the grandeur cultural consciousness of India.
Long after Valmiki wrote Ramayana, Goswami Tulsidas (born 16th century) wrote
Ramcharitamanas in his native language. With the passage of time, Tulsi’s Ramcharitmanas,
also known as Tulsi-krita Ramayana, became better known among Hindus in upper India
than perhaps the Bible among the rustic population in England. As with the Bible and
Shakespeare, Tulsi Ramayana’s phrases have passed into the common speech. Not only are
his sayings proverbial: his doctrine actually forms the most powerful religious influence in
present-day Hinduism; and, though he founded no school and was never known as a Guru
or master, he is everywhere accepted as an authoritative guide in religion and conduct of

The Devisukta declares that the Goddess is the power expressed through all the gods, that they are united in her who shines with consciousness, that her presence is all-pervading, that she supports all of creation, that she is the source of righteousness and the revealer of truth, that she is the source of all worlds, yet that she shines transcendent beyond them. Among Shaktas this Vedic hymn is held in high esteem and is considered to be the source from which the entire Chandi sprang. Later, the Chandi itself was elaborated upon in the Puranas and Tantras.

The Guru Granth Sahib (also known as the Adi Granth) is considered the Supreme Spiritual Authority and Head of the Sikh religion. It is perhaps the only scripture of its kind which not only contains the works of its own religious founders but also writings of people from other faiths. Guru Granth Sahib, containing 1430 pages, is a collection of devotional hymns and poetry which proclaims God, lays stress on meditation on the True Guru (God) and lays down moral and ethical rules for development of the soul, spiritual salvation and unity with God. The writings of the Gurus appear chronologically. Each of the Gurus signed their hymns as Nanak. Their compositions are identified by the numerals at the beginning of each hymn, i.e. Mahalla 1 is Guru Nanak, Mahalla 2 is Guru Angad and so on, followed by those of other 34 saints (Bhagtas) and other contributors. Guru Granth Sahib has 3,384 hymns, of which Guru Nanak Dev contributed 974 hymns including sloks and pauris, Guru Angad Dev contributed 62 sloks, Guru Amar Das contributed 907 hymns including sloks and pauris, Guru Ram Das contributed 679 hymns including sloks and pauris, Guru Arjan Dev contributed 2,218 hymns including sloks and pauris, Guru Tegh Bahadur contributed 59 hymns and 56 sloks, while Guru Gobind Singh contributed 1 slok.

It also contains Bhagatas of Kabir, Namdev, Ravidas, Sheikh Farid, Trilochan, Dhanna, Beni, Sheikh Bhikan, Jaidev, Surdas, Parmanand, Pipa and Ramanand.
The fifth Guru Arjan Dev began the great task of collection of the holy compositions as Sri (Amritsar) and compiled the Holy Granth Sahib.
The tenth Guru Gobind Singhji ceded the Guru-Gaddi to Sri Guru Granth Sahib commanding that the Holy Book be henceforth regarded as the Eternal Guru of the Khalsa Panth.
